EDUCATIONAL INTERVENTION SPECIALIST AT MULTIMODALITY MEDIATED (M³) LEARNING FOR AUTISM

Targeted 1:1 specialized interventions for learners who can read the words—but need help building meaning from what they read. While this is often recognized in autistic and hyperlexic learners, many other students experience a similar gap between decoding and comprehension. These learners are frequently overlooked because their reading appears strong on the surface.

FOUNDATIONAL sessions are for these adolescent learners:

• Autistic and/or Hyperlexic Learners
• Learners with decoding skills but weak language comprehension (Poor Comprehenders)
• Learners with Developmental Language Disorder (DLD)

FOUNDATIONAL sessions focus on strengthening the language and comprehension processes that support reading, including:

• Building connections between decoding and meaning
   
• Developing narrative and informational comprehension
   
• Supporting expressive language related to text
   
• Strengthening verbal working memory during reading tasks
   
• Practicing strategies that help learners explain, summarize, and integrate ideas
   

 All sessions are conducted online, making it possible to work together wherever you are located.

CORE sessions focus on strengthening the underlying skills that support learning, particularly for students who may experience:

• language delays
   
• hyperlexia or hyperlexia-like reading patterns
   
• difficulty explaining or organizing ideas
   
• working memory challenges during academic tasks
   
• inconsistent performance despite strong thinking
   

During CORE sessions we work on:

• building connections between language and meaning
   
• strengthening verbal working memory during learning tasks
   
• developing clearer expression of ideas
   
• practicing strategies that support comprehension and reasoning
   
• gradually increasing cognitive flexibility and independence
   

Progress occurs through consistent practice and guided support over time, allowing learners to integrate strategies and apply them more independently across academic contexts.

STANDARD sessions focus on developing the underlying processes that support academic thinking, particularly for students who may experience:

• language delays or uneven language development
   
• hyperlexia or hyperlexia-like reading profiles
   
• difficulty integrating meaning across text
   
• working memory vulnerability during complex tasks
   
• challenges organizing and expressing ideas clearly
   

During STANDARD sessions we work on:

• strengthening connections between decoding, language, and meaning
   
• integrating comprehension across sentences and paragraphs
   
• developing structured strategies for explaining and organizing ideas
   
• supporting verbal working memory during reading, writing, and discussion
   
• increasing independence in applying cognitive strategies
   

Standard sessions may also include targeted materials and structured tasks designed to support deeper integration of language and comprehension skills.
